About Us

Treasures Charity Thrift Store is a social enterprise operated by Beginning Again Richmond Hill, a registered charity incorporated in 1986.

Treasures Charity Thrift Store is more than it seems.  Of course, as a second hand store, Treasures sells good quality used clothing and household goods at affordable prices, accepts donations of household items providing an environmentally friendly alternative to the landfill for people moving, downsizing or de-cluttering and offers community minded individuals opportunities to give back.

Treasures Charity Thrift Store, serving Richmond Hill since 1986, offers easy access to rewarding volunteer opportunities that provide a positive and immediate impact to the local community and can make a difference in many lives. In fact, the ongoing success of Treasures depends on community volunteers to take on the regular tasks of running the retail store. Volunteers are needed to greet customers and accept donations, work on cash, sort and price donations, display merchandise, organize and recycle, and make deliveries. Store volunteers usually work one or two shifts per week. Training is provided and volunteer schedules are flexible.  Currently voluntary positions on the Board of Directors are also available.

In addition to the thrift store business Treasures offers a Concurrent Work experience Program for individuals affected by mental illness. Through the Work Experience Program participants who are ready are offered a path to recovery enabling them to set their own goals, re-build confidence, gain a sense of purpose and enrich their quality of life.

On these pages you will find information about our charity, the program we provide, information about mental illness and some resources for help.  As well, from time to time, we will post upcoming events and interesting items for sale in the store and in the Silent Auction.
